You have money, gold, soldiers, peasants, food and land. You fight, you trade, you send great caravans and so on, so on, so on... But you can never be sure of tomorrow - then you will be attacked, then the queen will die, then the peasants will rebel, then a crop failure, then they will steal gold from the treasury...
